Education Section
As a graduate, your education section sits near the top of your CV. Include your degree classification, university, graduation year and where relevant your strongest modules. If your grade is not yet confirmed, state “Predicted 2:1” or your expected classification. Do not pad this section with every module you studied.
Projects and Dissertations
A dissertation or significant academic project is real work experience in disguise. Describe it using professional language: the brief, your methodology, the outcome and any recognition it received. If you built something, researched something or solved a problem that belongs on your CV.
Societies and Leadership
Running a student society, organising events, holding an elected position or competing in a sport at a representative level all demonstrate initiative, leadership and commitment. Do not dismiss these as irrelevant they are exactly what graduate recruiters look for to differentiate candidates.
Part-Time Work
Retail, hospitality, tutoring, bar work all of it counts. Extract the transferable skills: customer service, cash handling, team coordination, working under pressure. Frame every role with a bullet point that shows what you contributed, not just what you did.
